Hi,
I would not normally post requesting people to think about donating, but I am going to this time.
I know Katie Pavett and Ali and have known Katie so since Jan 2005 when I gave her a big donation for the Tsunami. Previous to that Katie had been in email and phone contact with me giving freely of her advice re a child I was trying to help medically in West Java.
Just had a newsletter from Katie Pavett and her Achenese husband Ali who run Children of Sumatra a NGO in Indonesia operating on children with hair lip and cleft palate.
Here is Katie's short reply to me when I emailed to get my newsletter again as I had lost it.
"Hi Pamela,
Pleased you got the letter, lots of people didn't because it went to
spam. Not to sure what went on there.
Anyway we are very busy in
Indonesia 70 kids waiting for operations so non stop at the moment.
If you accept the spam you should get all the e news I hope from now on.
Send it on to friends if you can that will be great, desperate for
funding at the moment too many kids and not enough funding.
When will you be back in indo?
Just had 3 cleft lips from bukit lawang and have about 6 more waiting for ops.
Anyway take care Katie "

Here is the link to a pdf file on many of the operations that have been done from 2002-2006.
The tragedy of the tsunami stopped the operations whilst Katie and Ali linked up with many organisations and helped the local people medically, built wells, you name it they did it.
Now it is full steam ahead with the operations as long as the donations keep coming.
